kate willman nichols, MA, LMHCA, HCA
kate's current journey began 30 january, 2013 when she counted 'day one' of what would become longterm, continuous sobriety from drug and alcohol use. after struggling for a decade with severe substance use, related costs, and then facing her own, imminent demise, she finally chose life.
committed to her sobriety, kate furthered her journey in the service of others. a couple of years in volunteer work with fellow addicts led her back to school, where she finished an associate's degree in psychology in one year. this led to a bachelor's degree in psychology 18 months later from montclair state university and finally to completion of her master's in counseling from northwestern university in 2021.
her interests are spread as wide as her compassion is deep. kate has also served as a peer-to-peer counselor, a hospice worker, a residential case manager, an english tutor, a sponsor and leader of a mutual support group for hospitality professionals identifying as addicts.
betwixt the academics, career growth and always parallel to her recovery, kate continued to experience life as a person in the world: sobriety, a divorce, a cross-country move, the deaths of several family members, and navigation of the global pandemic of 2020, a remarriage + the birth of her son in 2023 are only some of the variables added to the ever-changing presence of kate's personhood.
kate values freedom, love, honesty, intelligence, personal achievement + acceptance. she serves as lead practitioner and head of development at die daily.
